Hi, Hello, Hola!
Graphic Designer Turned Product Designer
I got my degree in Graphic Design in 2014, but took a UX course my last semester in college (at the time, there weren’t really any programs for UX). Needless to say, I was hooked and fascinated by this intersection of creativity and strategy. It was during my first post-college job that I continued my obsession and taught myself enough coding and UX principles to redesign and code a responsive website for my employer (definitely outside of my role responsibilities). I knew this is where I wanted to pivot into and just a couple months later, I landed my first UX job.
What I Do
I’m now on the Feed Design Team at LinkedIn and over the last 9 years have had the opportunity to design for a wide range of companies like Facebook, 1-800 Contacts, and Realeflow (real estate tech). I enjoy applying my strong visual designs skills to turn complex digital products into high-craft experiences with a focus on simplicity. My sense of curiosity, at the core of who I am, drives me to ask a million questions as I seek to understand others’ experiences. I’m a strong proponent of user-first designs and always joke that if I weren’t designing, I’d seriously consider going into UX Research.
Who I am
As a first-generation American born to immigrant parents (a proud Bori-Mex), I had to figure out a lot of things on my own which made me independent and comfortable in undefined spaces since a young age. Also a Navy Brat, I went to 10 schools and lived all over the country. You can say I’m used to but also welcome change.
Today, I’m a self-proclaimed ENFJ-A who loves to dance (house, salsa, bachata, reggaeton), travel to countries with good food (I traveled to Greece 2 weeks post double-jaw surgery with my mouth wired shut), and do deep nerd-dives into my latest obsession (health/fitness and population decline, to name a few).
